Rote memorisation of times tables can only take a student so far. To truly master the 11+ and complex Key Stage 2 maths, children need Number Sense—the ability to visualise how numbers work together.

This interactive Multiplication Array Visualiser allows students to move beyond chanting numbers and start “seeing” the maths.

How to use the modes:

• Free Play: The perfect sandbox. Experiment with Rows and Columns to see how 4 × 5 takes up the same space as 5 × 4 (The Commutative Law).

• Task Mode: A dynamic challenge! You will be given a starting number of rows and asked to add or remove rows to reach a target. This builds the mental muscle for the Distributive Law (e.g., solving 12 × 6 by doing 10 × 6 plus 2 × 6).

• Assessment: Test your knowledge. Can you calculate the missing part of the equation?

• Show Me (Level 1): A rapid-fire interactive grid. Hover over the counters to find the multiplication fact requested.

• Show Me (Level 2): Advanced 11+ training. Learn to construct complex multiplication by splitting it into two easier chunks (e.g., solving 8 × 7 by combining 5 × 7 and 3 × 7).
