Under direction of the Staff Services Manager II, the Associate Governmental Program Analyst supports CalVCB’s strategic communications and outreach activities by planning, evaluating, coordinating and carrying out the essential tasks necessary to successfully educate Californians about how victims of violent crime access financial assistance.

This position provides hybrid telework opportunities, with employees required to work in person at least two (2) days per week and as needed/required. Beginning July 1, 2025, all employees will be required to work in person four (4) days per week in alignment with Executive Order N-22-25.

This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and once per year. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • General experience and ability to develop presentation material and plan events, e.g., public outreach or presentations to external organizations.
  • General experience public speaking before in-person and virtual audiences.
  • General experience and ability to participate in developing a strategy for reaching targeted audiences with an intended message.
  • General experience in writing materials geared toward external audiences, as well as the ability to work with desktop software to format documents pursuant to certain specifications, such as ADA standards.
  • Experience and ability to analyze and research topics, and to draft an appropriate communication response to questions from external parties, such as the media or stakeholders.
  • Experience and ability to maintain proper recordkeeping of activities and contacts.

CalVCB is located at 400 R Street in downtown Sacramento, blocks from the light rail and public transportation and within walking distance to restaurants, Sacramento River levee bike trail, the State Capitol, farmer’s markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50 and Highway 80.
