Full-Time Environmental Technician – Lakewood, CO

 

Job Duties:

Auxilio Management Services provides hazardous waste management and related services at the U.S. Geological Survey National Water Quality Laboratory. The Environmental Technician position performs these services as part of a three-person team. The Environmental Technician position maintains regulatory compliance at the facility, transfers waste from Satellite Accumulation Areas to the Central Accumulation Point, characterizes hazardous wastes and prepares hazardous waste shipments (including lab packs), operates hazardous waste treatment processes (elementary neutralization and ion exchange) and a wastewater treatment process, conducts facility inspections, performs spill response duties, and supports biennial hazardous waste reporting and hazardous material usage reporting.

The Environmental Technician position also maintains consistent and accurate data logs for wastewater constituents and discharge volumes, calibrates various probes and ensures accurate readings (pH, conductivity), participates as a member of the spill response team and aids cleanup in the event of laboratory spills, and manages the live chemical inventory system.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • High School Diploma and past waste management experience in an industrial setting.
  • Experience with RCRA Large Quantity Generator and Satellite Accumulation Area regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to wear a respirator for some job functions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to handle and move full 55-gallon drums with a drum dolly.

Compensation:

  • Full-Time Exempt Salaried position on-site (Lakewood, CO).
  • Extensive benefits package.
  • Salary Range $50,000–$70,000/year commensurate with experience.
