Job Description

A leading industrial manufacturing company is recruiting for an Environmental Compliance Specialist to support their site in the Portland ME area.

Reporting to the site EHS Manager, the Environmental Compliance Specialist will be tasked with developing regulatory programs, managing permitting applications, supervising the development, implementation and management of EHS programs, with a focus on maintaining environmental regulatory compliance.

The Role:

  • Assist with developing, implementing and managing EHS programs, policies and procedures.
  • Oversee all actions required to maintain Environmental compliance.
  • Organize and maintain all required records.
  • Act as point of contact for regulatory agencies.
  • Update and deliver employee training programs related to Environmental, Health and Safety.
  • Investigate employee complaints concerning exposure to hazardous materials or air pollutants.
  • Maintain accurate records related to chemical inventories, complaint investigations and shipment of hazardous waste.
  • Perform related audits as required.
  • Perform accident and incident investigation and make recommendations to eliminate future occurrences.

The Candidate:

  • Bachelor's Degree in EHS or related technical field
  • 3-5 years of experience in an Environmental Health and Safety role
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Ability to work with a team and independently when required
  • Cross functional project management
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
