Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and Planning: Provides expertise in designing electrical systems, including power distribution, backup power (e.g., UPS systems, generators), and cooling systems to ensure uninterrupted operation.
2. System Specification: Recommends and reviews specifications for electrical components like transformers, switchgear, and cabling to meet data center performance and efficiency goals.
3. Code Compliance: Ensures all electrical installations comply with relevant codes, standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE), and industry best practices.
4. Risk Assessment: Identifies potential electrical risks, such as power failures or inefficiencies, and proposes mitigation strategies.
5. Construction Oversight: Supervises the installation of electrical systems during construction, ensuring quality and adherence to design specifications.
6. Troubleshooting: Resolves complex electrical issues during construction or commissioning phases.
7. Energy Efficiency: Advises on optimizing power usage effectiveness (PUE), a key metric in data centers, to reduce operational costs and environmental impact.
8. Coordination: Collaborates with other teams (mechanical, IT, structural) to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into the data center’s infrastructure.
Required Expertise:
- Deep knowledge of electrical engineering principles, high-voltage systems, and low-voltage controls.
- Familiarity with data center-specific requirements, such as redundancy (e.g., N+1 or 2N configurations) and scalability.
- Experience with critical power systems, including uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), backup generators, and power distribution units (PDUs).
- Understanding of cooling systems, as electrical systems are closely tied to HVAC for heat management.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools for electrical design (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or ETAP).
Education : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred.
- Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license, LEED certification, or data center-specific credentials (e.g., CDCP, CDCS).
- Experience: Three years working on electrical systems, ideally in mission-critical environments like data centers, hospitals, or telecommunications.
Benefits:
- Competitive salary, commensurate with experience.
- Fully paid comprehensive benefits package, including health, vision and dental insurance for your entire family.
- 401K Safe Harbor Plan.
- PTO
- Opportunities to work on cutting-edge technology and industry-leading projects in the data center sector.
- A supportive and collaborative work environment focused on employee development and long-term success.
