Assistant Nurse Manager
Virtus Healthcare Staffing is searching for a dedicated and skilled Assistant Nurse Manager to join our partner, a leading medical center in San Jose, CA. This is a key leadership opportunity for a Registered Nurse who is ready to take the next step in their career. The position offers a full-time, night shift schedule and eligibility for a sign-on bonus.
Position Overview
As an Assistant Nurse Manager, you will be a vital part of the leadership team, responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the unit. Your role will involve implementing best practices and patient care delivery systems, and ensuring a safe and high-quality environment for both patients and employees. You will mentor and coach team members, support the resolution of patient concerns, and ensure all clinical and regulatory standards are met. This position is central to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaborative teamwork.
Key ResponsibilitiesStaff Supervision and Development: Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the team. You will mentor, coach, and provide feedback to drive performance improvement and support the professional growth of your team members. You will also delegate tasks and duties in alignment with the scope of practice.
Clinical and Operational Management: Manage care delivery operations within a 24/7 environment. This includes allocating resources, supervising the use of supplies and medications, and ensuring productivity targets are met. You will also assist in fulfilling departmental goals and removing obstacles that impact performance.
Quality and Safety Oversight: Ensure safe, quality, and standardized care delivery. You will ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission), and monitor performance metrics to track the success of strategic improvement projects.
Collaboration: Collaborate with physicians, outside healthcare providers, and other health care team members to achieve optimal and safe patient care across the continuum. You will actively participate in team meetings and management decisions.
Required Experience:
A minimum of two years of experience in patient care delivery.
A minimum of one year of experience in a leadership role.
Education:
An Associate's degree in a Business, Nursing, Health Care, or a directly related field is required.
Licenses and Certifications:
A California Registered Nurse License is required upon hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) is required upon hire.
